Scholarships

Ukrainian Catholic University together with partner companies offers several master’s program scholarships that fully or partially cover the tuition fee. The information below is regarding the year 2022.

Scholarship with the teaching assistance responsibilities

Faculty of Applied Science UCU and the partner companies (Grammarly, SQUAD) grant scholarships that cover from 30% to 50% of the program tuition fee. The scholarship includes the following responsibilities to work as a teaching assistant (TA) for a master’s or bachelor’s program course each semester with an overall load of eight hours per week on average. This condition shall remain true during the whole period of study on the master’s program. The candidate’s teaching experience in particular fields of computer science and/or math is desirable.

Scholarship from Ampersand Foundation

Ampersand is a community of professionals who aim to enable the most talented Ukrainian students to achieve their career goals. Among more than 50 members, there are experienced professionals from Goldman Sachs, City, Google, Microsoft, Uber, McKinsey, Facebook; graduates from Harvard, MIT, LBS, Wharton; academics, and business people from more than 10 countries. Ampersand is raising funds to provide scholarships sponsoring education in Ukraine’s top universities. In addition to financial aid, the Foundation provides the recipients with mentorship and extensive networking opportunities, as well as organize events and activities to give a boost to their performance in the early stages of their careers. Ampersand is focusing on prominent companies in relevant industries, primarily, management consulting, tech, IB / PE, FMCG.

Ampersand’s scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fee. Ampersand’s officials conduct the selection procedure and provide the short-list of their candidates to the Faculty representatives. The scholarship will be granted in case of successful admission to the master’s program.

Scholarship for women in Data Science (with TA’s responsibilities)

Faculty of Applied Science UCU grant scholarship that cover 50% of the program tuition fee. This proposition is valid for women who want to master the Data Science field. The scholarship includes the responsibility to have the role of teaching assistant for a master’s or bachelor’s program course each semester with an overall load of eight hours per week on average. The conditions are the same as for the TA’s scholarship mentioned above. The scholarship is provided by the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA).

Scholarship for a junior researcher at the Machine Learning Lab

The Machine Learning Lab operates at the Faculty. The prominent students with a solid background in mathematics (calculus, statistics, linear algebra) and programming may join the lab and conduct research under the supervision of the senior mentors. The scholarship for the junior researchers at the lab covers 50% of the tuition fee and provides an additional salary. The holders should join the lab for a full-time position and also play a TA role as for the above scholarships.

Please note that the program coordinator panel can review the scholarship status at any time (up to its complete cancellation) if the scholarship holder does not comply with the above rules.

A scholarship holder signs the following memorandum at the beginning of the academic year: Memorandum on the appointment and rules of the scholarships at the MSc in Data Science.

Application procedure

Scholarship application and selection procedures involve three phases

  1. An applicant should fill in the online application form and send it no later than July 30, 2022. The following information is crucially important:
    • Motivation statement with the clearly explained need for scholarship
    • Computer Science & Data Science background description
    • A list of two to three referees whom the scholarship committee may contact and ask for a recommendation letter
    • Applicant’s Curriculum Vitae with educational and job history
  2. Based on the application information, the applicant might be invited for the online interview conducted by the faculty members in the period of August 10 to 31, 2022.
